Membership
The basic requirement of membership in the San Jacinto Descendants is that a member must be lineal descendant of at least one of the heroes who fought at the Battle of San Jacinto under General Sam Houston on April 21, 1836 or one of those who were in the baggage train at Harrisburg, handing out supplies and tending the wounded.
Classes of memberships
There are three classes of memberships:
- Annual – This is the basic membership. Annual members pay dues of $30 per year. Dues statements are mailed during the first quarter of the year and dues should be paid by March 2 of every year. The first year of a Annual membership is included in the $60 application fee. Annual members who fail to pay their dues will be stricken from the membership directory which is distributed to all members, and they will no longer receive official notifications of events and meetings. Annual members who are no longer in good standing may reinstate their membership by paying the dues for the current year to the Treasurer General.
- Life – Life members do not pay annual dues. Life membership is available to members who are 50 years of age and above. The cost of a life membership is $500 for members from 50 to 64 years of age. For members who are 65 or older, the cost of a life membership is $300.
- Junior – Members who are under 21 years of age may be junior members. Junior members do not pay annual dues, and the application fee is $30. When junior members reach the age of 21, their memberships are converted to Annual memberships.

Moving? Please contact us
It is unfortunate, but we have lost contact with a number of members—especially life members—over the years when people have moved and failed to notify us of their new address. When you move, please be sure to contact the Vice President General to update your address, telephone numbers, and e-mail address.
